Alex Guarnaschelli

Guarnaschelli was the daughter of Maria Guarnaschelli as well as John Guarnaschelli. She graduated from Barnard College in 1991 with a degree in art history. In 1991 she worked for minimal wage at a bar known as an American Place for one year. Guarnaschelli began her career in the culinary field by working with her mother to experiment with various recipes before creating cookbooks. Guarnaschelli began her training in the kitchen of Larry Forgione, whose son Marc Forgione is Iron Chef Marc Forgione. She then worked at several restaurants throughout France, New York, as well as Los Angeles including Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. She was also employed at Daniel Boulud's own restaurant, as well as Joachim Splichal's Patina before becoming the executive chef of Butter. She served as executive chef of the Darby restaurant prior to its closure. The Museum of Food and Drink's Culinary Council. Guarnaschelli launched her first cookbook in the year 2013.
