An alumnus of Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in the arts when she was growing as a child. She was a singer in choirs, entered singing competitions and performed in the community theatre and in high school. She then moved in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. for a year and a half, she played Belle the princess of Beauty and the Beast. She quit college to find an agent for talent to audition for films and television. Butler guest-starred in the TV series CSI: Miami and CSI: NY.
